The
WIP Data Capture System uses barcodes to collect real-time
production data at multiple workstations.
As jobs are received
and processed at each station, the operator uses a barcode
scanner to enter information about the job. The date, time,
and workstation identification are captured automatically
by the software; other data fields are defined by the system
manager (job number and operation code, for example).
The data captured at the workstation is automatically stored
on a central network database. From there, it can be used
by other software packages, including order management and
production scheduling systems, spreadsheets, databases, and
productivity analysis tools. Data is stored in the popular
Microsoft Access database format. Microsoft Access is not
required to run the WIP Data Capture Software.
The type of data captured and the appearance of the screens
are centrally controlled by the system manager. Once the WIP
Data Capture software is installed on the workstations, the
system manager can change screen layouts without visiting
each workstation. The system supports multiple screen layouts,
which can be tailored to the needs of each department.
The workstation software is designed to work with any scanner
equipped with a serial data interface. Please contact us for
assistance in choosing the right scanner.
The WIP Data Capture software includes a set of Code 39 TrueType
barcode fonts so that barcoded reports and labels can be printed
in-house.
