Visual Inventory Control was developed from within an electronic
manufacturing facility
This sets it apart from other inventory software in the
fact that the actual users had a large part in the system
design. The purchasing department had large part in building
this small business inventory management system. They requested
detailed shipping information, including Terms, Ship Via
and Shipping Account numbers. The Stockroom also had a lot
of input on what they needed for a stockroom Inventory Software
including barcode labels, support for all types of barcode
scanners and a powerful wireless requisition system. The
engineering department requested the strongest part of this
Inventory control system. They needed to quickly find the
correct part with the least amount of information. The stock
scan screen was built to accommodate their needs. It includes
an eight-method stock search engine including a unique part
name search capability. What really made this inventory
system all come together was the pictures. The purchasing
department uses the pictures to visually describe the part
to different venders for second souring. The Stockroom uses
the pictures for verifying the correct part is received
and placed in the proper box. And once again the engineering
department just loves the pictures because it shows them
if they have really found the part that thy wanted regardless
what the description said.
Several new features have been added to bring this PC
inventory Control Software to the top.
One of the major new additions was the ability to link
the drawing and document specification of the parts and
assembles to the inventory system. Another new feature was
the addition of Auto-Snap. This feature uses a video camera
with a barcode scanner to digitize the photo and save them
to the network drive with the part stock number as the filename.
