Keeping
track of computer equipment, office furniture, machinery,
and other valuable assets can be a demanding task even in
small to medium size companies. The Fixed Assets Tracking
System provides an effective tool for recording details about
each asset and keeping track of its whereabouts.
A convenient data entry screen is used to enter and display
information about each asset, including description, manufacturer,
cost, and current location. Finding and displaying the record
for a particular asset takes only a moment.
Each asset is identified with a unique barcode tracking
number; locations are also identified by unique codes. The
software will print barcode asset tags and location labels
on your printer; if you prefer, you can use existing identification
tags or purchase pre-printed tags. When moving assets, checking
them in or out, or when taking inventory the tags can be
read with barcode scanners for fast and accurate data collection.
The Fixed Assets software will work with many types of standard
barcode scanners, including battery-powered portables. Data
collected by portable scanners can be transferred to the
Fixed Assets software using standard comma-delimited format
text files.
The software includes a check-in/check-out feature that
makes it easy to keep track of equipment that is loaned
out and then returned. Each transaction is documented and
includes a scheduled return date.
The Fixed Assets system is available for use on a single
computer or on a network. When used on a network, the asset
data is shared so that all users are working with up-to-date
information.
The system uses the standard MS-Access database format,
so it is easy to import data from the assets database into
special spreadsheets, reports, or other programs.
